1st october, day 31st of the trip
It is the CHINA's NATIONAL DAY!

I guess most of us are quite excited about the national day celebrations as we never been to one. School is of cause closed due to the national day and golden week, hence lesser students are in school. The national day parade was said to be spectacular and in a very very big scale, unlike Singapore's, for the fact that this national day celebrates the 60th birthday of China.

Anyway, alot of us stayed in the university, in our dorm to do work, instead of going out like we actually wanted to as we would not want to get caught in the human or traffic congestion if we were out, like in town.

Dinner is out with almost all LSCT people plus Dr Tan at Zhen Gongfu. I felt that I am hungrier and hungrier as the dishes keep coming. There are in total of seven or eight dishes, the favourite among us is the last dish 糖醋里脊, the last for the best.

Reflections:

What so special about National Day? It is the celebration of the birthday of the country. It is that special as your own birthday, where you also celebrate every year. National Day is a day to be reminded as being one of the country's citizens, feeling happy for the country's growth and keeps us rooted and bonded as one. Plus, it does reflects on the journey a country took from when it is still of a young age to now where it is at.

For Singapore, my country, its been developing from just villages to now a modern developed city, with its necessary laws, transport system, police force, the healthcare sector and so on. It becomes a country which we can live safely in and rely on. I am so proud to be a Singaporean. ^^

One great thing about National Day, be it in Singapore or China, the fireworks are great to view and enjoy. Imagine the dark skies which is being sparkled, lighted up with bright and beautiful fireworks! (:

2nd October
some of us went to Guang Gu Shopping Mall to shop

and the same goes for 3rd October
It is nice to have some days to rest and relax.
Furthermore, it is Mid-Autumn Festival on 3rd october. Another event we get to celebrate during this study trip.
A blackout at the shopping mall, lasted for a short while though.
A super big sized tshirt - something you dont always see
And my food - 汤包, delicious

Reflections for day 32 & 33:

Shopping is great in China, especially when the currency is lower compared to Singapore's, hence to us, the stuffs in China is cheaper. Besides able to get what we wanted, we also get to walk around the shopping mall and explore to see what it is like in China's shopping mall compared to Singapore's. One is that Guang Gu is definitely alot bigger than any shopping mall in Singapore, with so many shops that you cannot walk finish just in one day. Furthermore, bargaining is allowed in Guang Gu, depends on which part of the shopping mall though. It is quite interesting to bargain or hear how my friend does it plus how the shopkeeper agree or disagree. When you want a price, you name it then when the shopkeeper would not want it, you just leave, he or she may call you back to let you have the price you asked for. This situation does happen for a few times. I guess the shopkeeper just want to make some business, even if the price is lowered, he or she still want to earn some money no matter what.

Mid-Autumn festival is a festival where mooncakes are eaten, which I did eat even though this time is with my friends, not with my family who is in Singapore. Alot of places around the campus sell mooncakes, for this it does bring some feel of home to me, especially when eating them. In China, lanterns are not played or lighted like what Singaporeans will do. China locals just gathered together to enjoy viewing the moon and eat mooncakes.
