saturday arrived - the 5th of September
we all (PHARM, MDE & ICT) gathered at the admin block at 7.30am
then after taking a big group picture
we went up to our buses (PHARM & MDE a bus & ICT another bus) & set off to lulin resort
Is a total of 4 hours bus ride
bumpy and long ride...

me and millison in the bus, is still the start of the ride. When time passes, we get more sleepier and most of us fell asleep.

we had a tour guide named "Xiao Chen a.k.a Candy"
She is friendly and nice. (:
Gave us cap so to wear in this hot weather
Dr Tan with the cap!

finally after the long bus ride,
we reached the restaurant near our hotel to have ur lunch
the ceiling of the restaurant outside
the dishes we were served for lunch

some dishes are just different from Singapore's
to china, these food are 'rich'
too salty, too oily and so on
but to fill our stomach, we still have to eat
and learn to adapt to the food at the same time

after lunch
we went to buy our straw sandals
this is my pair (for 2 yuan only)

wearing the sandals and off to the river rafting site
wore a life jacket
and partner with Ernest
we set off on our journey of river rafting from the starting point to the ending point
there are some parts which are fun! Because of the current.
I sat in front and Ernest was behind
While we were rafting, we did get into "water battles", where the china people they used their paddles to splash the river water at each other
Plus they can purchase this 'gun' which able to shoot the water in a distance to the 'target'.
In addition, there was a time where a float is horizontal and ours is vertical. Next thing happened was that our float hit theirs and their float capsized.

Such river rafting must have safety issues involved, but it seems China is not that strict, unlike Singapore. Safety is good to be involved such as durable life jackets and take well note of each other when playing water battles as it ensures the people to be safe and sound from trying this particular activity out.

After finishing the river rafting, the bus driver and tour guides brought us to the next destination Mei Ren Gu The mei ren gu dock
The boats where visitors can take, it costs money though

Hence, we took a walk instead and was more worthwhile as we were able to see different sceneries. Plus we were able to capture the nature with our own eyes and in close view unlike if we did take the boats and we would be in the river and not able to see whatever interested us (e.g. butterflies, the farmhouse) up close.
A farmhouse I think of quite poor quality but there is a satellite there. An advanced technology in such a rural place.
plants are being grown.
The English translation is hilarious. Such a direct english translation. hahas.
the beautiful waterfall as the background, able to see such waterfall in Singapore and it is nice to do so during this trip. It is like one of the things I either do or see for the first time. (:
Waterfall does give people a soothing feeling, like there is nothing to be worried about or think about. It seems like all the worries and problems if there are, can just disappear in thin air.
I guess thats why waterfall which is used in martial arts shows or other shows gives people the feeling that the character in the show is relaxing or cooling down. everyone is enjoying the waterfall =))
As I continued to walk and climb up rocks, slowly advancing towards the exit of Mei Ren Gu, I came across this fast flowing river (shown above) and another waterfall called the Lovers' waterfall (shown below).

A question was asked among us "which side of the waterfall is a guy and which is the girl?"
Tony answered "the side which is broader is the guy while the narrower side is a girl". Maybe because guys are bigger in size while girls are smaller, delicate and elegant. Hence, the narrower one is a girl since the water will flow more elegantly.
a small waterfall lulin jing xu (consists of the different destinations we went to such as the river rafting, Mei Ren Gu, the hotel we stayed in)
dinner at the restaurant near our hotel, down the hill. Shown in the picture above, the dishes are not exactly my kind of food, this was when my tolerance for discomfort must sit in, so to endure and adapt to their eating lifestyle.

After dinner, we all went to our hotel rooms, mostly two to a room. This time was the same, me and Millison were in the same room.

The hotel room was so much nicer than our hostel room in Wuhan University ZhongNan Campus.
The toilet is much bigger, the beds too and there is a television as entertainment. We had a nice shower and a good sleep.

The next morning arrived, we all went to the same restaurant to have breakfast. This was my first eating breakfast provided in China.
I would say the breakfast is the nicest meal among all three as you can see the after picture, there was not much food left as we ate all finish. The eggs, the man tou, baos and porridge - all I like to eat so this was the meal I do not mind having everyday.

After breakfast, before we set off to our next destination, I took a picture with our lovely tour guides of bus 2.
xiao chen (Candy) & xiao xu
We reached the destination, another place to visit and take alot of pictures.
A bus like this kind will bring us further up.
The flag that olden China would use
See the mountain behind me
BUTTERFLY (:
The soldiers at the back; this was how in the olden days the soldiers dressed up

The well; the kind which were used in the olden times
Horses; the soldiers rode on them for battles and for other reasons

A real horse, which I get to rode on, the very first time in my life. I always wanted to ride a horse and finally my wish came true.

This is the camp that will be built where the general will stay in during war battles
some martial arts show where these three men show off their martial arts skills
archery boards; in the olden days, they looked like these
archery bows

After visiting all these, we were off to another area nearby. I had prayed at the temple there and rang the bell for three times. Three times was said to be good, or six or nine. To view more, we had to climb through rocks and caves.
This cave is low ceiling and dark (bright because of my camera flash), luckily is in the afternoon, not too dark that we cannot see.
Cai Shen Ye (the God of Fortune) on the rock
People can place coins on him and said to bring good fortune.
The shape of camel head.

When visiting was over, we took the bus back to the restaurant to have our lunch.

Soon after lunch, we took the bus back to wuhan university. Again, the ride took 4 hours, with the same bus driver and his horning.
the bumpy roads that made the bus go up and down. It was like a 'roller coaster' ride for us passengers.

and finally back to home to our hostel
must rest early for tomorrow's activities
lessons will come first and then interaction with local students

In these two days (day 5 & 6), I had tried out many new things such as river rafting, horse riding and having straw sandals. I am happy doing so since I am learning to be independent plus having fun in a foreign country away from home for long for the first time. Therefore, I must use the opportunity well. =)

Differences again can be observed such as the driver seat is on the left unlike Singapore, which is on the right, and the horning sound is like the signal for the drivers on the road whereas for Singapore's cars there are light signals and in addition the loud horn was banned sometimes ago.

China people smoke alot even the bus driver when he is driving, giving us the second hand smoke. This is harmful to us plus polluting the environment, hence smoking should be one of the reasons that cause China people to fall sick.
Furthermore, safety should be something they keep in mind such as when they are driving, they should keep to the lane and not like racing. There were some instances where it looked like the bus was going to crash. Plus safety can be implemented into activities especially popular demanded activities where visitors and tourists can be assured of their safety being taken care of.

Thats all for now.
This marks the end of the first week in Wuhan, upcoming will be on the second week.
